So the meeting with Christian and Jackie was kind of rough. I was realizing that they’re in this position that a lot of smaller businesses are in, where they’re struggling to get their shit together essentially. They need to really get some funding. Christian is very gung-ho and thinks he can get funding and he probably can. He does seem like a well-networked individual when he goes to Burning Man, I think, which really helps with that.

We need to figure out what is possible for a small engagement to see the team dynamics because my concern is that it’s got a bit of toxic dynamics there between him and Jagi and wonder how the rest of the team feels. This would be interesting to see: how long does the average team member stay? What’s the off-boarding like? Yeah we definitely need to go through and figure out the best way to do this. My gut intuition says this could turn into something really cool but Christian would need to be on board with the coaching aspect; otherwise it’s just not going to be a good fit. It’s going to be weird.

My other concern is just: are they irresponsible? Are they doing enough in the business to really keep it on point? I think a lot of really conscious, good-hearted people struggle with business. It’s really challenging for them to keep it together and I think that it sounds like the two of them are super connectors and they’re visionaries. They need these operators and integrators.

I had done a psychoanalysis from the transcript too so there are concerns from the AI around what it’s seeing with the dynamics and I have to tread carefully. The idea is that we’ll do this little engagement because he said that they do somehow find the funding. They apparently are doing; it does not seem like there’s enough revenue there to really be hiring properly but somehow they still manage to pull some people in. Yeah it sounds like there’s a bit of too much juggling so it would be interesting to figure out what’s going on if we do end up spending more time with them. This is one of those things that kind of worries me as far as getting involved with friends like this and what could be done and if we really get fit.

I think the other problem here is doing this on a per-project instead of a per-hour basis but we’ll see. The goal for me is to make sure that we put out a 5k package or something that makes it really worthwhile to spend the time double-checking all their stuff. We can also get their main things, this website issues that they’re reporting, which is really the big deal breaker. Yeah it’s interesting. They definitely have that cobbled-together system approach but I wonder how that is being divvied up. We really need to send them over the proposal and figure out if we can have some sort of working agreement to do this basic work, like do our basic orb, and then do this specific help on their website. It’s kind of like packaging together the orb with this additional work that they need and then see if that can work out. Yeah something about the dynamics worries me so I have to figure out what we can do to mitigate that, like having really clear scope.
