Awesome meeting with Ian that went a full hour instead of the 30 minutes we had scheduled. I need to send him the link to Proximity, maybe to even Thunderview Dinners, but he’s got a lot of interest in also co-hosting the Authentic Hikes that I’ve been doing. He is wanting to start a guild essentially for doing referral sharing. This is something that I’ve been interested in doing and being able to have him want to do almost a concierge service where they would do the discovery call with the client, which to me is such an amazing thing. I would love to partner on that aspect or just be involved because I think that’s where we need to move towards.
The other thing was that when I told him about Lasting Legacy he was actually saying I should lead with that. I’m sorry not lead with that but I should be willing to speak on that as part of what we’re doing here. We’re going after creating something much larger. He was saying with that just go ahead and start reaching out to planned giving firms, like non-profit planned giving, and seeing what’s possible to start working with them because they’re already doing this. That would give us a lot of exposure and experience.
That NCF, which is the National Program Christian Foundation, essentially does a DAU model. One of the biggest things that they’re doing is they’re just simplifying and streamlining what founders and other kinds of people with equity and other more complicated things are able to give from that. Which reminded me I want to reach out to places like Boulder Community Foundation and other similar organizations to be able to see how we might be able to help them because we want to learn their processes for planned giving and make it easier. In essence, pave the way for us to be able to do this, Lasting Legacy, and become their partner.
We also talked about, because he was actually working in the wealth management world and private equity world before, and his wife is actually working at a private equity firm, the difference between CFP versus RIAs, because it’s like two different worlds. Since there’s all these smaller independent registered investment advisors, which is probably what my friend Bryan, who runs Proximity, is.
It’s really exciting and we talked about how we actually should have another meeting soon so we can get together and discuss how to make this work, where we can help with the guild and we could plan the next Authentic Hike. I think those are going to be something I need to go ahead and plan for the April 1 so I know sometime, maybe mid-April, whatever, pick an easy time. Yeah I would love that because then when I have an event schedule that’s easier when I reach out to people and be like, “By the way I’m also hosting these Authentic Hikes, which I think lends a lot of credibility.”
I do think I need to make the Authentic Hikes much more for operators essentially? It’s for executives. Yeah I think it needs to be executives; that’s who we’re niching down to, executive or operators essentially.
The other thing is these study mastermind groups that he was talking about. He’s essentially running what he called a working group but to me what he wants to create are these kind of study groups and what I would call almost a mastermind where there’s a bunch of different people. They’re all sharing and I suggested that I would be willing to help him out with the facilitation on it, which he sounded very interested in because it allows us to kind of work together and for him to see my level of facilitation so I get to step more into that.
I was also thinking about some of these long shots, but could you have a school community, the skool website, where you’ve got these groups and essentially start to pull in people into one that’s your friends and then charge like $1,000 for membership and people have to apply to join? Yeah so is that a possibility? There’s a guild that Ian wants to put together but then there could be this separate thing that just starts and just kind of experiments with to have different friends come in who are very aligned, essentially, other fractionals, maybe a fractional prosperity group, conscious fractionals group is probably what I would call it. Maybe do that through the school platform.
